So it’s summer.
One month to go until we make our annual pilgrimage to the Mother city.
I love summer, hate being fat for summer but hey. Can’t have it all. But this summer we will play on the beach and thus I have gone for a jog everyday this week and will throughout December.
As Cape creatures go I am of the winelands habitat more than the beach. I love the beach don’t get me wrong, but it’s the whole sand in your face and being sticky thing that annoys me. I actually get all grumpy and I have vowed I will not do it this year. I will ENJOY the sun, sand and surf.
Besides for jogging I have been doing a couple of other “getting ready and healthy for a restful but fun holiday”. Summer fruit lunch smoothies and my favourite, DIY beauty treatments. I want to be all sexy for summer and actually get a tan this year too. I just feel better when after a long week I make a yummy sugar scrub and just scrub all shit off. Crying in the shower helps too.
By the way, these scrubs make amazing Christmas gifts. Put it in a nice jar with a pretty ribbon…eat your heart out Woolies.
My top 2 weekend wonders:
Lime foot soak. (SO GOOD)

To make the foot soak, combine 2 cups of Epsom salts with 1/2 cup baking soda and zest of one lime in a large bowl, and add 3-4 drops of lime essential oil and 3-4 drops of peppermint essential oil. Stir with wooden spoon to mix thoroughly
To use this foot soak, dissolve a ¼ cup in a basin of warm water and our feet in and enjoy. (Epsom aids restful sleep) Leave feet in until the water goes cold and do this 2 or 3 times per week.
You will have the smoothest heels you have ever had.
Candy body scrub.

To make this scrub, 2 cups granulated white sugar 1/3 cup LIGHT (virgin) olive oil 1/8 cup melted coconut oil (or more olive oil/any other oil is fine too, I just like coconut) 1/4 tsp peppermint extract or essential oil.
To use the scrub, scrub yourself from head to toe in the shower and rinse. Once a week and you will feel golden. This one has the summer freshness from the mint. Divine.

A hand full of strawberries, raw pitted cherries, small tub of plain yogurt, ice, some honey and boom. Lunch.
