This is my last week at Beau Joubert Vineyards and Winery.
It’s all a blur of sadness and excitement and early morning flights and wine and people and work. This might be my last few days as an employee here, but I am leaving a piece of my heart between these oak trees. If it weren’t for Beau Joubert I would not have the opportunities that are stretched out in front of me. So in honour of the place where it really all came together, here are my top 5 things I have learnt here. In no particular order;
- It’s not about what you are selling, it’s how you sell it.
Being a good sales person will take you very far in whatever industry you work in. You have to be able to sell yourself. (In a non creepy way)
- Phone manners, matter.
A friendly voice over a phone can move mountains out of your way.
- Ask questions, many. All. The. Time.
Soak up knowledge. But stay humble about what you have learnt.
- Say please and thank you. Always.
Good manners have been responsible for many a promotion.
- Make friends.
Working with people you like is far better than keeping petty grudges.
