Longing for London
I love London. It’s as simple as that. I keep going back and each time it gets harder and harder to leave it behind. Yes, you feel different about a city once you live there. But I can honestly say it would take me a very long time to get sick of London. As Samuel Johnson said;
“Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”
The grey drizzling days, the long walks to the tube stations. The wait under an umbrella for the bus and the sandwich at Tesco’s for lunch. The mundane things in the grey city made me happy.
I have traveled from Bath to Birmingham, from end to end. Even though the countryside has its charm it’s London I long for.
With the ever weakening Rand my hopes to visit again soon are fading. But I will return. For now, here are some of my favourite pictures of London. All taken on my phone. they are not your obvious touristy shots but rather my special corners of the city.
And of course, my London soundtrack.
