5 Must see places in SA

Greenlydia - A South African Travel Blog

5 Places I need to see in South Africa this year and why.

  • Augrabies – The last time I saw the waterfall I was 5 years old. My Aunt had just passed away and my parents and I were there for the funeral. This is my father’s country. My grandfather had large cotton farms and vineyards on the banks of the Orange river. I have always wanted to go back there. Even for nothing more than to find the places who’s names were scribbled on the back of my dads old photgraphs. I have questions and maybe Augrabies has some answers.

  • Clarens – Because everyone and their dog have been there and they have a brewery.

  • Parys – With the Rand taking a nose dive my hopes of seeing Paris this year are drifting further and Further away. But so help me Yoda I will post and Instagram of me in Parys and I will call myself a Parysian.

  • Port Nolloth – My family used to live here, briefly, before I was born. My mom speaks so fondly of this place there is just something drawing me to it. Perhaps I finally find a beach a really like (I know I know, I just don’t like beaches)

  • Durban – I know the other 3 large cities in SA pretty well but I know very little about Durbs.(Can I call it Durbs? is it cool? or is it like when people call Joburg Jozi and you cringe a little) I want to get to know it a little. Where to eat, where to drink, where not to eat.

These 5 spots are ones I need to tick off my 2016 must-see-list. Whats on yours? And why do you want to go there?

*photos are not my own since I have not visited these locations. Except Durban. But my own photos of Durban sucked.

BUT I recommend Nature’s Valley/The Cragg’s/Hogsback. That area. It’ll make you believe in magic

We went to Clarens and Parys last year (with our pug!) both magical places! I am originally from Durbs, but I am a bit out of the loop on where is cool to go there anymore…
