Picnics & Champagne
Yesterday was our little engagement party. Well actually it was a picnic. We thought it would be kind of fitting, seeing we got engaged on a picnic.
It was organised on a whim (in one week). It was going to be the last weekend in a while when a close friend (also bridesmaid) was going to be in town. Also soon I will be off to Germany for a bit (EEEEEEK) and then Cape Town and then we are off to the UK. SO MUCH IS HAPPENING.
But it ended up that our friend was unable to attend. Invites had gone out and other friends were very keen so it all worked out.
We did email invites. The illustration was done by Cupcakemummy and I can not wait to get the original and have it framed up in our house.
I wanted it to look whimsical (as one does). We were so busy last week we simply did not have time to go and buy things so naturally we spent the entire Saturday cutting ribbons and folding flowers.
We were SO worried about the weather. It had rained the entire day Saturday and looked very dark Sunday morning. Admittedly, we had no plan B had it started raining. We would have been like “thanks for coming, sorry its wet, bye” But the heavens smiled on us and not a single drop fell. By 2pm it was hot and sunny and perfect.
We drank Moët and ate redvelvet cupcakes. It was the best day. We were having such a fabulous time we were actually the last crowd to leave the gardens.
Thank you SO MUCH to all our amazing friends that spent the day with us. We are truly blessed to have you in our lives. A big extra thank you to the people that drove crazy far. It really goes appreciated.
Anje – you were missed. Wish Cape Town was closer.
