Let’s get cheesy with Dalewood Fromage

Cheese on Marie Biscuits, cheese sandwiches, cheese on crackers, cheese cubes, grated cheese, hard cheese, soft cheese, ANY cheese. My love for cheese runs deep.

In fact, both my siblings have the same cheesy addiction. I can remember sitting in our old family home, around the kitchen table, finishing a block of Gouda in a sitting. When we were little, my grandfather used to tell us that when he was in the army he was so poor and hungry that he ate the red wax coating. He was joking of course. (Dear lord I hope he was joking)

When I started working with wine, my cheesy problem kicked up a gear. When we started stocking Dalewood Cheeses at work, I hit a whole new cheese fueled high.

Dalewood Fromage won the following awards at the 2017/18 World Cheese Awards:

– Huguenot cheese: Super Gold Medal.
– Top 16 Super Gold Medal Finalist – Dalewood – – Fromage Hugenote JOINT 3RD IN THE WORLD.
– Boland: Gold Medal.

Dalewood Fromage is an integral part of Dalewood Farm. It is an artisanal farmstead operation producing cheese from the ground up with the goal to handcraft. The source is Dalewood’s own Jersey milk which makes it a genuine ESTATE cheese. Dalewood’s unique recipes were formulated by Rob Visser who studied Dairy Technology. After years of experimenting, time in France sniffing out traditional cheese making secrets and countless cheese tastings the Wineland range was launched – inspired by the magic and romance of the surrounding vineyards. The range of speciality cheese includes Brie, Camembert and Blue in different styles, shapes and sizes to suit any occasion. Last but not least are the Huguenot®, Boland and Lanquedoc; uniquely Dalewood, uniquely South African.

There is something special about supporting local businesses. Especially food producers. It is vital to support local, great produce and knowing it is quite literally, the best in the world is just spectacular.

If you are looking for the something really cool and (wait for it) cheesy, to do why not try a cheese tasting for your friends? Pick up a couple of bottles of wine, preserves, olives and biltong and lay out a killer spread. When I have people over I fill them with cheese to avoid cooking 😉
