Bidon Bistro is best

Look the west (of Joburg) has natural beauty (if you squint and tilt your head a bit) but it has lacked in the area of decent brunch spots.

A couple of weeks ago our foodie friends told us about a place in our neck of the woods that has been getting a few rave reviews. We simply had to go check it out.

On Wednesday I took the men in my life out for a late lunch to celebrate their recent achievements in the last few months and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to check out Bidon Bistro.

Since I am no foodie I cannot rave about the impeccable quality of the food. Because I pretty much think all food is good. Because food is your friend, you know? But I can you why you need to add this to your list of places to check out.

Bidon Bistro

The setting:

Bidon Bistro has a relaxed modern farm house feel about it. (If that makes any sense at all) It’s on the Kromdraai Road in the Cradle of Humankind and fits in perfectly with its inviting vibe. There are two seating areas and a beautiful pond in the middle. There are resident dogs that sleep by your feet and a pot belly pig roams the yard. (any place that has a resident pet is good by me)

The food:

The food was WELL priced. I would go as far as to call them very affordable. YAY for not robbing your clients! (Bill for 4 people –mains/drinks and one dessert came to R500 on the dot)

The service:

We were greeted by I think the manager (possibly the owner) and services was quick and simple. Oscar ordered the Pork Belly and unfortunately he got a very fatty cut (more fat than meat). He showed the manager and he swiftly apologized and brought it to the chefs’ attention. The chef insisted on making Oscar a whole new meal and we were not charged for the first one. The replacement meal was DELICIOUS!

I would definitely recommend this little brunch heaven.
